Beekenkamp Group is growing for the future with a new greenhouse for the cultivation of field vegetables
On Wednesday, May 1st, the first pile was driven into the ground at the new construction site of Beekenkamp Plants. Employees gathered to celebrate the beginning of the construction of the new facility. After a motivating speech by An Beekenkamp, the board of directors of Beekenkamp Group officially pressed the red button, signaling the start of the construction.
Beekenkamp Group is constructing a new 4-hectare facility because the current location is outdated. The new greenhouse will be modernized and will offer many advantages in terms of greenhouse and labor technology. New machinery and automation possibilities will make work even more efficient. Additionally, a new potting line for the production of field vegetables will be added, allowing for faster production of plants. Although the quantities remain the same, work can be done more smoothly this way. The greenhouse will also be considerably more sustainable.
Construction company Hofman will build the shed. The current shed is too small for the number of plants and will be expanded to provide more space. Demolition of the current greenhouse will begin at the end of May. Beekenkamp Group expects the new construction site to be completed by the end of 2024.
